An opportunity to push your nearly grown manuscript out of the nest and into the world!

Picture
It's open! Click here for submission guidelines.
Let's just break this down.

What is it?
A brand new online writer's contest!

Who is it for?
Anyone with a completed manuscript (any genre, including erotica) ready for agent eyes.
How does it work?
There will be 3 mentor teams in each category (Picture Book, Middle Grade, Young Adult, New Adult, and Adult), for a total of 15 teams. Each team is composed of a team leader and two team members. Each team will choose three manuscripts and one alternate to take into the agent round.

That's 45 manuscripts that will be prepped and polished with the help of mentors, before going off to be judged and (hopefully) drooled over by the participating agents.

Why should I participate?
This is just another opportunity, my friend. If you've been banging on agents' doors, here's another door to try—with the added benefit of being involved in a community, plus mentors' valuable insights in revising your manuscript! What's special about FicFest in particular is the equal opportunity it gives all genres and categories. No offense YA writers, but you guys have the run of most contests. Not so with FicFest. There will be exactly nine finalists from each category, giving everybody a fair shot.

What's the catch?
The FicFest folks will neither ask you to pay them nor sign away your soul. They do ask that you let your mentors know if your manuscript is under consideration by agents and if you are fortunate enough to snag an offer of representation while involved in the contest. Also, please don't submit a manuscript that has been a finalist in any other contest in the current year. And don't submit a first draft—make it the good stuff. Is this really a catch, or just common sense? I'll let you decide.

So are you itching to submit? I have good news and bad news.

Bad news first: you've got to wait 20 days.

I know, it seems like forever.

Good news is that gives you 20 days to prep your stuff. Shine up those manuscripts and queries until they sparkle!
