Hello, everyone! I've been away a while.

If you follow me on Twitter or are part of the Community of Readers & Writers, you may have noticed some crickets as of late. It's been a busy time. Of course, the holidays are always hectic, but I've also been taking care of this little monster, the world's greatest chewer, digger, and stick collector.

I promise I won't bite your sweatshirt this time. Really.

And I bought a house! I have finally achieved my dream of buying a log cabin and retreating into the East Tennessee countryside. When you think you're lost, keep driving and listen for the sound of typing and a husky who's just learning to howl.

Cabin sweet cabin!
All this has been fantastic, but I have missed the writerly community and am happy to be jumping back in. In honor of that, I decided to have some fun.

Postcard Contest

The rules are simple: Send me a postcard. Impress me. The postcard can feature artwork, a poem, calligraphy—anything you want, as long as it's a standard size postcard. (That's 5.8 by 4.1 inches for you sticklers.)

Send your postcard to the address below. Important: Include your email address somewhere on the card.

P.O. Box 301
Corryton, TN 37721

I must receive the postcard by Friday, February 9, 2018.

Selection & Prizes

I will choose the top five postcards, photos of which will be posted on Twitter on Monday, February 12. Then, it's all up to the Twitterverse! The postcard with the most RTs wins all the marbles. I will announce the winner on Valentine's Day (Feb. 14).

All the Marbles

  • Edit Like a Pro: A Guide to Self-Editing Your Prose
  • The Query Course
  • Full Query Critique
  • 10-Page Line Edit

* I reserve the right to add more fun prizes if I see fit!

Non-U.S. Friends...

For all you folks living outside the U.S., I know you can't get a postcard to me that quickly, but I don't want to exclude you from the fun. So for any postcard I receive from outside the country, the sender gets their choice of a query critique, a 1k-word line edit, or $50 toward any editing service over $100.

* This does include U.S. residents on vacation!

Happy (Postcard) Writing!

I can't wait to see the creativity in my mailbox. Good luck, everyone!
